About the artists
Aaron Lampert is a BAFTA award winning Animation Director and Sound-Designer. He has worked at many of London's top animation production companies including Trunk Animation, Picasso Pictures, Passion Pictures and Sherbet, and for clients including Motorola, Ninja Tune and The BBC. Thomas Hicks graduated from Kingston University in 2004 with a degree in Illustration/Animation. He has directed two award-winning music videos for the band Gravenhurst on Warp Records, he teaches experimental animation workshops, works on theatre projections and recently held a solo exhibition of his animation work and drawings in Paris and Milan. He is represented by Passion Pictures. Aaron and Tom began collaborating on projects together during their degree course at Kingston with 'Circus X', which was shortlisted for the Becks Futures Student Prize 2004. Their next collaboration, 'It Ain't Disneyland', was hailed as 'state-of-the-art... a media mediation' by The Guardian, and 'a pioneering use of animated documentary' by Design Week. Their individual and collaborative works have been screened at festivals around the world, including Pictoplasma, onedotzero and Resfest.
About the work
This music video for the band 'Loka' was commissioned through a contest run by Signals Media Arts and the Ninja Tune record label in 2006. We produced the film on a minimal budget, experimenting with integrating our contrasting visual styles using a combination of traditional and computer animation techniques.
