About the artist
Collaborating under the name Boo Hoo, George Wu and Bonnie Carr initially worked within the fields of Graphic and Sound Design. A creative partnership formed through nurturing a mutual interest in film and a desire to represent the ever-evolving relationship between the organic and the artificial. Both motivated by a natural, hands-on approach, the instigation of visual ideas grew from drawing and paper craft, formats they remain faithful to as a way to show heart and commitment. Inspirations include urbanity, nature, growth and lifespan, synthetic sound and visuals and the proximity of organic and artificial life within a manmade environment. All of which will remain centrally relevant to our everyday experiences.

About the work
The project submitted is a first attempt at realising our ideas through moving image. An ambitious and deceptively intricate comment on a potentially beautiful concept, the piece depicts the birth and decay of life form. We strove to encourage harmony and balance between the sonic and visual elements through an intimate studying of the subject matter and hope we have established that the stark beauty of artificiality can provoke an emotional and very human response. We are susceptible to concrete as we are to canvas.
